FRIDAY Q&A! | Terre Haute Indiana Wedding Photographer

I am starting a new blog section on Q&A's! I get a lot of interesting questions weekly so now I am going to give my blog readers/clients a chance for their question to be featured and others can read! :) (don't worry I am not including names)  I hope this will be a fun chance for us to get to know each other!!

Here we go.....!

What is the best free online website for editing pictures?

I think the best free editing software is a download. It is called Paint Dot Net (Paint.net) you can get it at http://www.download.com/. It is free and has similar qualities as the older photoshops! If you want to learn how to process photos to enhance them, then this is the way to go!

Where is the best place to buy cheap backdrops?

Although I am not really into studio photography that much, There are a few sites I would try when looking for cheap backdrops. Depending on what *type* of backdrop you want you could try the following:

http://www.backdropoutlet.com/  I have ordered from them before but they are extremely slow.
http://www.amazon.com/ along with http://www.ebay.com/  you are ALWAYS going to find cheaper deals on these sites instead of paying retail!
http://www.facebook.com/PhotoPropFloorsandBackdrops has vinyl floors and backdrops!

Now, If you are just starting out and looking for cheap way to get some backdrops try your local fabric stores!! White and Black fleece is best when getting black and white backdrops from a fabric store!! Very cheap as well. If you are into newborns the fabric store is always a must!! Check yours out! You might find a gem in the clearance section!

What is your favorite moment while doing engagement sessions?

When they laugh. I love to see the way they interact with each other! Usually when people laugh they bend forward or the bend backward. This combo makes for great photos. :) It helps that I am funny! ok... maybe just a little funny??

Alright... I have my moments!

What have been your proudest moments, both in your professional and personal life?

In my personal life it has to be getting married and having my kids.. I know, How cliche... But seriously. My family is everything to me and they always will come first in my life. :) Second to that when my oldest started kindergarten. I felt like "I did it. I helped him grow into a little man" Nothing feels better than knowing that your children are 'good' children. They learn from you. It's a great 'real' job I have. :)
In my professional life I would say my proudest moment was booking my first wedding at full price. It made me feel awesome that someone was willing to pay for me even if it was full price!! It's nice to feel you are wanted or needed no matter the cost!

How do you start a meeting off with a bride and groom?

I set up a phone call or an email for a meeting location. I arrive before they do (nobody wants a late photographer!)  I introduce myself and then ask them what they are wanting in their wedding. What are their expectations of me? What is their price range? I talk a lot (for those of you who do not know me) So it's easy for me to make them comfortable. From there we talk about it all and sometimes stuff wayyy off topic. I am sorry to all the grooms that had to listen to the bride and me talk about Britney Spears or the Latest Chick flick that's out.. :)

Well That's it for this weeks FRIDAY Q&A!  If I didn't get to your question please try next week! I accept questions all week long. Make sure you make your subject Q&A so I know I can post your question on the blog!!  Thanks for reading!!

Much Love!
